Myofascial Release Physical Therapy differs from other types of physical therapy in a number of ways. In a regular physical therapy session, you will have to undergo a number of movements and stretches in order to “rehab” your muscles, tendons and ligaments. The stretches involved in a Myofascial Release Physical Therapy session are held longer, and target the fascia – the root of your pain.
Usually, after a standard physical therapy session, your pain will go away for only a short period of time. This is due to the fact that while parts of your body were targeted, they were not the true cause of the problem. Myofascial Release Physical Therapy targets your whole body, focusing on the problem areas and releasing your bound-up fascia in order to remedy the pain for a longer period of time.
