Physical Therapy in its traditional therapeutic format is a very helpful and necessary part of physical rehabilitation.
“Traditional” physical therapy focuses on alleviating symptoms that a patient may incur from injuries, strokes, and other chronic degenerative changes.
Myofascial Release is a highly specialized form of physical therapy that differs from “traditional” physical therapy in that MFRPT (Myofascial Release Physical Therapy) focuses on diagnoses and treatment of WHY the original physical therapy diagnoses ever occurred. In other words, MFRPT focuses not only on alleviating symptoms, which it does highly effectively, but on alleviating the VERY REASON the symptoms are occurring.
MFRPT uses gentle yet firm sustained pressure to all spinal segments and their associated co components of soft tissue. We MFR physical therapists have received 100s of hours of post graduate clinical in-classroom training on correcting these imbalances. MFRPT focuses on the physical biomechanical imbalances that are caused by adhesions and imbalances in the soft tissue system.
The diagnoses most commonly treated are all conditions that produce pain as a symptom, such as; neck and back pain, Fibromyalgia, herniated disks, Migraines, TMJD, Chronic Arthritis and many others.
It should be noted that this form of specialized Physical Therapy at the very worst just simply has minimal affect where traditional physical therapy can actually make any given painful condition WORSE. This is due to the fact that traditional physical therapy’s main focus is exercise, which in and of itself is not harmful. BUT if a patient that receives exercise for their physical therapy treatment has crooked, asymmetric, or soft tissue imbalances that are not effectively alleviated and balanced; the traditional physical therapist has in effect STRENGTHENED THE CROOKED, painful body. This actually can cause farther damage in the long run, while temporarily the patient feels some relief.
We don’t believe we heal you, we simply put your body in a state where it can naturally heal itself, while gently receiving pain that some of our patients have not had relief without medicine for 25-30 years.
